JANUARY 2019
Character design and animation pose ideas required...
Earnest Shepard's classic illustration for "The Wind in The Willows". (Note: This is not to copy - but to show the kind of whimsy that can be part of this challenge if you like.)
My author/artist friend in the UK, Geoff Francis, runs an organization called "NO MORE DODOS", which seeks to protect endangered plants, animals and their habitats. An initiative IN 2019 is to support the English badger, which is unjustifiably under attack due to governmental killing proposals, etc. In order to bring an awareness to this situation, Geoff has written a new book, "Badger Boy" which is connected to a drawing competition for kids from 12 - 16 years old. Although most of the members in our Sketchclub will not qualify for this, due to age, I feel it'll still be a great drawing challenge this month - in the sense that Geoff could well want to adopt designs and/or animation ideas from what's submitted here.
Consequently, I'm opening this opportunity up to everyone in the Sketchclub challenge this month, asking for drawn character designs with animation poses, based upon a badger theme In fact, there's no limitation to what you might draw this month, relating to badgers and their plight. Definitely feel free to use the information contained on the Badger Boy website competition to guide what you do - although please do NOT enter the Badger Boy competition directly, unless you qualify by age of course. Consequently, all entries for this month's Sketchclub competition have to be made via our Facebook group page, as usual - with all drawn submissions being posted as one single file please.
I will announce the results of this month's drawing competition at the end of the month as normal, although I'll also send all the submissions to Geoff to see if anything catches his eye. Who knows, maybe your entry could end up as an animated logo for his site or something, that is if something really catches his eye?
The following reference images of the English badger may be of use . . .

So, I hope this month's challenge grabs you folks? It would be terrific to have a huge number of designs and animation ideas for Geoff to consider at the end of the month. And its always great to have a "feelgood" factor attached to anything we do in a creative capacity, isn't it!
"Good Luck" and have fun one and all! :)
