JUNE 2020
Many years ago I started a film about a "lonely little e" but sadly never finished it. This is just one of the few scenes that I did actually get finished . . .
The story was based on a children's story book that I did actually finish! Now, that book has unexpectedly brought up a possibility of my creating 26 x 3-minute films - one for each letter of the English alphabet. The films will teach young kids around the world who are learning English all about the 26 letters concerned. I'm encouraged by funding possibilities for the idea although, as I write, the money is not in the bank. However, being a positive kind of person, I think this would be great opportunity for this month's drawing challenge! So . . .
CHALLENGE:
Please create one drawn and colored image of an idea. That idea should be about one letter of the English alphabet. I want you to design it in a style of your own choice and maybe in a setting that hints at a story idea you may have.
The best designs and the most intriguing drawings could well be adopted for the film series, should it be made. Now remember, I only want you to design a single letter (of your own choice) and set it in a setting which hints at your story idea - as I don't want you to share all your ideas with the world and maybe have them stolen by someone else out there. If it goes forward, I'll contact you with an agreement and you can then write your idea full out for production.
If the animation series happens and if your idea is selected, then there will be a small payment for you (has to be small as we're talking about "educational" budgets here!) and you will get a "conceived by" credit in the film.
If funded, the series will be made by a professional animation studio, so you will have something to show in your portfolio at the end of it all.
The most original idea will be our winner for the month. But, I don't want you copying my approach or anything like that. I'm looking for original ideas that could work in a short film and help kids understand the nature of whatever letter is being featured. Hopefully this gives you a lot of creative leeway everyone?
Do please remember though that the idea will have to be eventually animated within a pretty limited budget, so "simple is best" - and definitely don't think of a "special effects", "all singing and all dancing", "movie spectacular" concept!

"Good luck" one an all!
