JULY 2019
Posting this challenge on "Independence Day" in the USA has made me reflect about what true independence actually means to me. Maybe it will make you wonder what it means to you too?
So, the challenge this month is to share a little of your personal feelings by way of a single drawing that illustrates what "independence" means to you. But please remember that this is NOT intended as a political theme, or even reserved for anything relating to America or the 4th July. Instead it is about "personal" independence - that is, spelt with a small "i".
Therefore, wherever you are in the world, please try to depict what independence means to you or in your world. You can make us laugh, make us cry, make us think, or even maybe make us dream. The choice - and the style you draw it in - is entirely up to you!

And if you're wondering what this has to do with "animation", here's my thinking on the matter...
Animation is all about storytelling - and the best animation uses the best "storytelling key poses" to communicate it's message. If you don't have strong storytelling key poses then your animation will never be good - no matter how many extra design, audio, SFX or other various additional "bells & whistles" tricks you add to the mix. So this July's drawing challenge is all about you telling a powerful story through one single, strong visual image. Learning how to do this will only improve your animation in the longer run.
So get to it folks, the clock is now ticking! :)
And “good luck” in expressing your "ideas of independence" through a single drawing!
