"Kick some Butt" ~ ANIMATION challenge. |
Instead of posting a challenge that's based on "imagination" this month, I'm giving you a direct challenge that asks you to "kick some butt'.
Essentially you should treat it as if it were a commission. This will test your ability to take visual instruction and interpret that instruction well. It could also lead to some work from me further down the line. (That is, IF I can find funding for a project I'm currently working on - but no promises of course!) If nothing else, it should test how equipped you are to cut it as an animator!
THE CHALLENGE:
The two characters above are two of many that I'm working on right now. The character on the left is based on the scientific glyph for the planet "URANUS" (avoiding the obvious "Uranus" and "kick butt" connotation here!) and the one on the right is based on the glyph for the Zodiac Sign of "TAURUS".
I believe the action speaks for itself. Consequently, what I'm asking you to do this month is simply animate it - really well! Now I'm NOT asking you to do the pen & ink style with cross-hatching. But what I am asking you to do is produce a rough pencil test sequence, showing the one character kicking the butt of the other. Remember - no fancy frills, or color, or whatever are needed here. Just simple, well executed pencil animation that perfectly expresses the action.
As I suggested above, this may turn out to lead to a paid gig further down the line for anyone who shows real skill at pencil animating these kinds of characters. Although for now I'm just asking you to have fun with the action - albeit in as tasteful a way as you can.
