SEPTEMBER 2019
In tribute to Jake Parker's wonderful "INKTOBER" initiative I thought it would be respectful to have an ink-based animation challenge this month.
In 1921 the fabulous Dave & Max Fleischer created their groundbreaking "Out of the Inkwell" short - where their animated clown character, KOKO, emerges from a live action inkwell to amazing effect.
Here's a hint of that iconic animation...

YOUR CHALLENGE:
Below is a downloadable PDF file that shows the Fleischer inkwell as a standalone prop. You can use it as it is, or not, it's your choice. If nothing else it will be good reference for drawing your own inkwell.
Your challenge this month is to animate your own imaginative, inked character emerging from the inkwell. It can be anything, doing anything - as long as it is drawn with ink, is animated and it comes out of the inkwell. You may even find that you can double-up your drawings with "Inktober" if you like. The whole thing is out of the inkwell and out of your imagination!
Note: You don't have to make a full film like the Fleischers did - just have something ink drawn come out of the inkwell and do something wacky. Bottom line . . . This is your chance to make your inkwell animation as original and as groundbreaking as the original Fleischer concept! Perhaps you will create an iconic moment in animation's history!
