'Slow Sneak' challenge.
The above video is a very basic action for the 'Slow Sneak' walk movement I created for my online animation students. I used a rigged cut-out approach for speed and efficiency in creating it. Admittedly, this approach does lack action subtlety, but at the same time it definitely gets across the principles of this classic movement. Below are the various pose positions required for the first stride. . .
1st stride - left leg forward, right leg back.
'Passing position' for the 1st stride.
You'll note that the first 'stride' position is actually 2 stride positions! This is because the feet remain in the same position but the body angle changes from back to front as they do so. The 'passing position' is created with the front foot sliding back along the ground to the opposite leg stride position and the right leg lifting up and through.
Here are some suggestions for the kind of timing you might consider between the various positions for the first stride - with '1' being the lean back position, '17' the lean forward position and '27' the 'passing position'. . .

The November challenge is for you to create a 'Slow Sneak' walk cycle of your own, using a character of your own choice. Remember that to do a walk cycle you have to complete TWO strides - one through '37' and then '37' back to '1' for the second stride. Please loop your action three times when you submit it on video, so it demonstrates more than once a perfect transition from each stride cycle to the next.
'Good Luck' with your challenge folks!
