DECEMBER 2015
"Tis the season to be happy/sad!"
For much of the world December is a celebration of Christmas. Even non-Christians can be involved in the ‘gift-giving’ ritual, with all the associated emotions this involves. The best character animation is all about emotion. So it somewhat makes sense for us to set a simple Challenge this month – one that is based on one or two of the emotions of Christmas.
THE CHALLENGE: After the challenging rigors of last month's ‘Walk the Walk’ challenge I feel it is only fair that this month we respect the activities of the holiday period and give everyone something simple that they can get their teeth into. Consequently, this month’s challenge is for you to create two opposing character expressions, based on the Christmas gift-giving ritual. The first is a SAD face (i.e. one that represents your reaction when being given the worst possible gift you could ever be given) and the second is a HAPPY face (which represents the best possible gift you could ever be given)! You can show the gifts in question that are being reacted to – or not – it’s entirely your choice. You also don’t need to show the entire body pose if you don’t want to - although you can of course do so if you want to. The real challenge is to put a character through two opposing emotions, based on a Christmas theme. RULES & GUIDELINES: Please put both your drawings onto one page. Also, don’t get too hung up on the character design. You can use a character of your own design or a character seen elsewhere. The important thing is that the character clearly expresses the two emotions. There is also no need for color, just a pencil/line drawing – although if you want to add color you are again at liberty to do so. The important thing - 'have FUN' - and make it fun for us to view them too! |
