'TREE DECORATIONS' challenge.
Whether you are a Christian, Pagan, Believer or non-Believer of other religions alike, there are still some Christmas rituals that are great fun to be part of. 'Dressing a Tree' is one of those! So this month we have a fun challenge that everyone can do - one that specifically embraces our deep felt passion for drawing and animation at this special time of year. I hope you think so too?.
And - 'woo-hoo' - there's actual prizes this month too!
As an extra enducement to contribute this time around, you should know too that this month’s challenge is especially rewarding! Pencils.com, perhaps the finest suppliers of pencils and pencil-related equipment online, are generously sponsoring prizes for our December challenge! As a result, the winner will get a beautiful Blackwing Discovery Gift Set or a Blackwing Mixed Set. (The winner can choose which one they want!) Runners up will each receive a Pencils.com Sample Pack. Thanks to our friends at Pencils.com for making these special Sketchclub 'Santa gifts' possible.

The Challenge:
I'm sure you'll all agree that our Sketchclub Christmas tree looks pretty sad and dull right now? So to get into this month's Christmas spirit, I want everyone to help decorate it for us. To do so you need to submit a drawing that we can place on the tree as a special, animation decoration. Your drawn characters, designs or tree objects can be anything you would like to put up. (Well, within reason!) And I would suggest that on this one occasion you add bright ‘color’ to it too (with a pure white background for clean, compositing purposes please) to make your contribution really stand out. The biggest thing to remember however is that whatever you submit, it should in some way be ‘animation related'. (I.e. If you choose to do a recognizable character, they have to be posed in some kind of active pose. So if it’s an object of some kind, make sure it suggests 'movement, ‘speed’ or ‘velocity’. If it’s an animal or creature, draw it in a state of flowing movement.) The choice is basically yours - as long as it has some kind of animation theme and it will look really great up on our group Christmas Tree! (And I'm sure our tree will grow big, and tall, and lush green if we create enough bright decorations to encourage it!)
Deadline:
Submissions need to be in by midnight on December 23rd (Pacific Time) - after which I’ll try to get them all put up on our tree by Christmas Day, December 25th. I’ll also try to announce the winners then also - so those earning their special gifts from our Pencils.com Santa will know that too!.
So have fun folks! I’m hoping that with your contributions we’ll have the most fabulous, animator's Christmas Tree decorations ever imagined!
Seasons Greetings to one and all! :)
